Attention: Painters - Do You Threat Your Spray Gun Like You Treat Your Car?

Most people realize that proper maintenance to their car is the key to insuring top performance for a long period of time. They understand that proper lubrication and tune-ups are a necessary component of a sound maintenance program.

Do you lubricate your spray gun regularly? Just like your car, your spray gun needs your attention with proper maintenance to insure peak performance. If you use it daily, you should give it a shot of oil daily. Special focus should be given to your gun's packing. A dry packing can cause your gun to spit or drip on your job and your pattern to flutter. In the process of cleaning your gun with solvent, the lubrication is washed away. Just a small drop where the needle hits the packing adjustment nut will do the trick.

If you bring your car into a repair shop to get something fixed, do you just drop it off and let the mechanic try to figue out why you brought it in? Of course you don't! The same holds true for your spray gun. When you send it in for the repair make sure you let them know what's wrong with it. Is it spitting? Is the pattern spraying heavy to one side? Maybe you've just let it go and it needs a good soaking and a rebuild kit. By describing the problem you will assure proper repair and probably get your gun back a little quicker too!

If you are treating your spray gun like your car, try it. You'll be glad you did!
