Just Another Barrel of Paint Waste?

Conditionally-exempt Small Quantity Generator (CESQG) threshold is less than 25 gallons per month and/or 300 gallons per year (which equates to 220 lbs/month or 2200 lbs/year). Should a shop exceed these limits in any one incident, the shop’s status will change to that of Small Quantity Generator (SQG).

When I shared this with the shop owner, the response was a very surprised "My commercial recycler never told me that!!"

A generator, based on his CESQG or SQG status, would have to exceed a certain volume in order to fall prey to a violation of that nature.

Two other questions immediately came to my mind.

1. What is the volume threshold to avoid? and

2. What else are the commercial recyclers NOT telling their customers?

Our team is researching this issue to determine what it means to the shop in question but it's certainly worth the time for any shop owner to investigate to prevent this problem and being blind-sided.
