Clay Center, NE April 11, 2008 – The Nebraska Autobody Association (NABA) announced today that it will continue to build on its legislative momentum that began with a briefing at the State Capitol that was attended by of over half of all Nebraska senators.

NABA’s unique legislative approach was designed around an automotive PowerPoint presentation that took the association over thirty hours to produce. “The PowerPoint was definitely an asset as it helped convey a dramatic picture of emerging automotive technologies along with the economic opportunities these technologies create for the State of Nebraska,” said NABA director and lobbyist, Norbert Zaenglein.

NABA expected a good turnout but no one expected over half of Nebraska senators to attend along with the Speaker of the House and the Department of Insurance’s Chief of Market Conduct Regulation. The Capitol briefing was designed to acquaint the legislature with trends and developments in automotive technology and to underscore the role of the collision repair industry as a vital component of Nebraska’s economy.

NABA’s briefing at the Capitol was an exceptional success and the sheer number of legislators that attended reflects a genuine interest in the issues and challenges faced by the collision repair industry. “You know that your legislative strategy is working when you can get half of your elected representatives in a room for over forty-five minutes.” Zaenglein added. “We took a chance on a unique approach and our efforts were rewarded by an exceptional turnout.”

NABA’s legislative day at the Capitol was the beginning of an overall strategy to familiarize Nebraska’s legislative body with the complexities of the collision repair industry. NABA plans to approach specific legislators shortly for the purpose of examining how specific legislation can help claimants receive the coverage promised by their policy of insurance. The association will continue to explore unique approaches to issues faced by the collision repair industry.
