Clay Center, NE July 23, 2007 – The National Collision Industry Alliance (NCIA) has released a responsibility poster that reminds insurers and repairers of their obligation to write estimates in compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations. “The simple act of writing an insurance estimate may subject the shop to certain state insurance laws,” said NCIA founder Norbert Zaenglein. “And compliance with state laws is everyone’s responsibility.”
NCIA’s awareness poster reminds Nebraska repairers and insurers of their obligation to write estimates in accordance with Nebraska Title 210 Chapter 60 Section 009.04, which reads as follows. “The estimate prepared by or for the insurer shall be reasonable, in accordance with applicable policy provisions, and of an amount which will allow for repairs to be made in a skillful manner.”
The new awareness poster can be downloaded from NCIA’s web site at http://www.nationalcia.com. “We encourage collision repair professionals and associations to research individual state insurance laws to define and clarify the obligations of repairers and insurers.” Zaenglein added.
NCIA plans to publish additional shop responsibility posters in the coming weeks including insurers’ and repairers’ statutory obligations regarding collision replacement parts.
