STRONGSVILLE, OHIO September 14, 2006 Advances for improving a collision shop’s throughput, new waterborne basecoat systems for California, and replacement windshields for vintage cars are just a few of the new offerings that will be showcased by PPG’s Automotive Refinish and Auto Glass businesses at the 2006 NACE Exposition this fall. It marks the first time PPG will exhibit in one arena its full range of automotive aftermarket products and services.

“We are very excited to be working with Auto Glass at the upcoming NACE show,” says Paul Ong, Marketing Manager for PPG Refinish Alliance Programs. “Considering that we both service the automotive aftermarket, we hope to provide a comprehensive solution for our collision center customers.”

PPG’s aftermarket offerings for Automotive Refinish and Glass will be displayed in two booths, located next each other on the main aisle at the NACE Expo. The PPG Automotive Refinish booth’s theme will be “Driven by Performance” and will provide attendees with information on its PPG Envirobase® and Nexa Autocolor Aquabase® Plus waterborne basecoat systems along with many of PPG’s refinish core products. PPG Business Solutions team will share the booth with Automotive Refinish and will highlight the latest performance-focused services and programs from MVP, the CertifiedFirst® Network and Throughput Performance Solutions.

"Collision centers are feeling pressure to perform at higher levels than ever, so the winners over the long haul will be those owners and managers who can solve problems and lead process changes that result in delivery of a value proposition of quality, speed and cost,” said Rich Altieri, Senior Manager, PPG Business Solutions.  "This is a new and innovative approach to the ‘keys-to-keys’ business and production process."

James Berkey, Director of Business Solutions for PPG Refinish, adds that "collision centers today face an interesting dilemma due to the fact some things being done today to make money are the very things that will prevent them from making money in the future.  Throughput Performance Solutions offer an effective balance of science and practical solutions for the challenges facing collision repair businesses."

PPG’s new waterborne refinish systems are designed to enable collision repair centers in California to easily comply with tougher VOC regulations scheduled to take effect in January, 2009.

“Our PPG Envirobase® and Nexa Autcolor Aquabase® Plus solutions were developed to be as easy to use as solventborne systems and deliver superior color-matching accuracy,” said Doug Beuke, compliant segment manager for PPG North America. “NACE attendees will be able to hear more about what plans PPG has in place to help our distributors and collision center customers make the transition to waterborne technology as effortlessly as possible.”

Visitors to the PPG Auto Glass booth will be able to learn more about the GTS Software, Rapid Seal Urethane Products, Aquapel® Glass Treatment, Delta Kits w/s Repair Systems, ACI Window Lift Motors & Regulators and the Vintage Glass Group.

“Our vintage glass products are just the ticket for the restorator or custom builder who let’s say is having trouble locating a windshield for a 1969 Corvette or a back window for a ’57 Thunderbird,” explained Bob Rossey, Manager, Sundries for PPG Auto Glass. “Vintage Glass Group inventories many makes and models of hard-to-find windshields, side and back windows and gaskets for foreign and domestic vehicles,’ added Rossey.

For those interested in learning more about PPG’s new products and services at NACE 2006, the PPG Automotive Refinish booth number is #W1229 on the main aisle. Next to it will be the PPG Auto Glass booth, #W1329 in the NACE Auto Glass Pavillion.
